The AFREhealth-CUGH Working Group (ACWG) invites all interested people to attend our Satellite meeting on April 17, 2020, at the CUGH Annual conference in Washington DC, USA. The title of the Satellite is “AFREhealth and CUGH: Implementing the goals of a collaborative partnership”. The ACWG has been active in working towards defining areas for collaboration, and forming three subcommittees focusing on (1) Health Professions Education for Health Systems Strengthening; (2) Research; and (3) Student exchanges. The aim of the 2020 ACWG Satellite will be to present the progress on effecting these goals over the past year, as well as how to most effectively implement them. The Satellite meeting will extend over a period of 4 hours on the morning of April 17, 2020.

BACKGROUND
The AFREhealth-CUGH Working Group (ACWG) has been active over the last 2 years, working towards defining areas for collaboration, and forming three subcommittees focusing on (1) Health Professions Education for Health Systems Strengthening; (2) Research (3) Student exchanges. At the 2019 CUGH Satellite (as well as at the 2018 and 2019 AFREhealth meetings in Durban and Lagos respectively), the long- and short-term goals for each subcommittee were outlined. The aim of the 2020 ACWG Satellite will be to present the progress on effecting these goals over the past year, as well as how to most effectively implement them. The Satellite meeting will extend over a period of 4 hours from 8 am – 12 noon on the morning of April 17, 2020, in the Georgetown W room at the Washington Hilton Hotel. There will be three main parts to the meeting.
INTRODUCTION

Welcome and introductions from the ACWG co-chairs and Satellite organizers. Explanation of the aims, structure and expected outcomes of the CUGH 2020 ACWG Satellite meeting.
Part 1
8:10am-9:00am
(1) CUGH AND AFREHEALTH
The session will start with a brief overview of the structure and functions of the organizations of AFREhealth (Prof de Villiers) and CUGH (Prof Eichbaum) (5 minutes each).
(2) REPORT BACK FROM AFREHEALTH MEETING IN LAGOS
Prof Kiguli-Malwadde will give a report back on the ACWG meeting in Lagos, AFREhealth’s progress to date and how CUGH and AFREhealth are working together as partner organizations. (5 minutes).
(3) SUBCOMMITEES’ PROGRESS 
The three subcommittees (attendees to choose which group to join) will break out into separate roundtable discussion groups to reflect on progress over the past year (e.g. what worked, what didn’t work) and to discuss how to more effectively implement their specific goals developed at the CUGH 2019 meeting. Each subcommittee will develop a brief report back on their progress, as well as specific plans on how to continue to implement their goals over the coming year. Additional and modified goals for the coming year may also be discussed here. The co-chairs of each of the three subcommittees will report on their progress since the CUGH 2019 and Lagos 2019 AFREhealth meetings (5 minutes each). (4) GUEST SPEAKER 
Dr Shailey Prasad (20 minutes) – Conceptual frameworks of mentoring in LMICs.

Presentation on the CUGH Capacity building platform (10 minutes)
Roundtables subcommittee discussion groups will present to the Satellite meeting brief report backs from Part 2 on their reflections and their plans for implementing goals for the coming year (30 minutes).
This will be followed by an open floor discussion with all participants to discuss the path forward for the ACWG (35 minutes).
