SATELLITE SESSION DESCRIPTION
After hearing from the audience on teaching, learning, and application/practice challenges encountered in preparing students for global health work, the workshop facilitators will present the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Global Health Concentration Competencies for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree (2018) and highlight faculty teaching aids in the accompanying toolkit. Three global health faculty will then demonstrate three curricular models – one Asian-based, one European-based, and one US-based – to highlight difficulties and solutions to graduating students well-prepared for global health practice. The workshop will include facilitated table discussions, World Café rounds, and/or think-pair-share methods to build partnerships, stimulate problem-solving, and disseminate additional resources for education that advances global health. Faculty will depart the workshop with more confidence and increased abilities to translate competencies into successful curricular and co-curricular activities for global health.
